“Love the music today, hear it for a lifetime”
Hearing conservation for the musician and the music lover.
What you need to know about music
• Any sound, played long enough and loud enough can cause permanent damage to our ears. It doesn’t matter whether you are listening to rock and roll, rap or classical music, if the volume is too high, you put yourself at risk.
• You can reduce your risk of permanent damage by following a few simple steps
First, move away from the speaker. Sound energy reduces by half with every doubling of distance away from the source.
Second, wear hearing protection. Foam plugs are fine, but they can muffle some parts of the music more than others. Custom musician plugs offer a flat reduction of sound across a wide frequency range. This allows you to listen longer at safer levels.
Third monitor the amount of time you are listening. OSHA, an organization that monitors health and safety at work, mandates that a person should only be exposed to 85dB (about as loud as a vacuum cleaner) for 8 hours a day. If the level is 90dB you should only be exposed for 4 hours, 95dB for 2 hours, 100dB for 1 hours. Any time longer and you significantly increase your chances of sustaining hearing loss.
BHP offers custom hearing protection including the ACS PRO & ER series musician plugs.
BHP offers custom in the ear monitors from ACS, onsite impression services and 24 hour rush services.*
Custom in the ear monitors are not hearing protection. However, with proper education and use wearers can potentially reduce their sound exposure level. This is why we at BHP take hearing education and conservation seriously.
