At Berks Hearing Professionals, our audiologists are Board Certified Doctors of Audiology, maintaining a higher standard of care for our patients. Our goal is not only to determine the nature of your hearing loss, but to also educate you on possible causes and offer personalized solutions.
Immittance Measures
Immittance exams include tympanometry and acoustic reflex threshold tests. These measures assess the function of the eardrum and bones and muscles of the middle ear. These tests will help us determine if you should seek medical or surgical treatment for your hearing loss.
Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission Measures
Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission (DPOAE) tests evaluate the health of the inner ear, specifically the cochlea. DPOAE testing can also be useful in evaluating newborns or monitoring patients with a history of noise exposure or ototoxic drug use.
Pure Tone Threshold Testing
Pure tone threshold examination evaluates a hearing loss at different frequencies and helps our audiologists determine a proper course of treatment.
Speech Discrimination Testing in Quiet and in Noise
Most patients feel they can hear but have a hard time understanding what has been said, especially in noise. Our standard testing evaluates a patient’s ability to discriminate speech in both quiet and noisy situations.
